6th Annual East End Walk for Alzheimer's & Country Western Fall Festival
This Campaign has ended.
This will be my 6th year taking part in an alzheimer's walk...and although 3 1/2 years ago the man I walked for was taken from this earth, I continue to stay involved and support where I can of this important cause. I usually make the theme... keep it going and well I will, but this year I have decide to change it to don't forget me.
The reality of the disease like alzheimers is... our loved one is still here, but a piece of them is missing. It was one of the most painful things I ever had to witness, but its not about me, it not about us, its about the person suffering from the disease. They know they are still here and that there is something missing, but they just dont know what. I can never imagine what that must feel like.
So its our responsibility to remember... remember the person before the disease, remember the good memories you can still make now if they are will us, don't forget them and don't forget to keep fighting for a cure.
Gramps, is still a part of me every moment of every day. I still shed tears because I wish he was here. He still is my strength. I wont forget the man who personified alot of what I wish to be. He was patient (until he wasn't :) ), he was caring, he was resilient, he was dedicated, he was my hero, he was my grandfather.
